Although hotel is described as historic…it’s just plain old. Do not be misled by the term restaurant…it’s essentially an indoor food truck. TV had connectivity issues and was not fixed even though I requested it. Pool was closed. Lighting in the room was very limited and the bathroom is tiny without hooks and not all the lights working. In other words..hotel is old without expected modern conveniences that you’d expect. Very disappointing and I would not return.

The hotel lobby is impeccable. So much rich history! The location is fabulous. The rooms are very dated, but fairly clean. The AC is weak, which was probably my biggest problem because Texas heat. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I dined at the Mengerita & that was great! Valets were friendly and speedy. Overall, a good experience. Did not experience any paranormal activity, unfortunately.

If you're visiting San Antonio, you have to stay at the historic Menger Hotel. The Alamo is across the street. The Menger bar has old West vibes.

Location $65 a night to park at the hotel was too much!

Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable bed. Walking distance to attractions The shower kept switching between scalding hot water and cold water.

They pull you in with tells if ghosts and history and 2 mins in the room you realize why it’s cheap. Front desk lady had s bad attitude. We get up to the room to find a fan outside of our door. We thought that was weird but then realize it’s because ac is broken. No answer when calling front desk. We go to our concert and come back. Nobody at front desk to report ac issues. Tried to call again from room, no answer again. We shower… diverter is broken and you are showering with low water pressure because half the water is coming out of the tub spout, tub stuffed up and you are showering in a puddle, ac drain is also draining into tub so it’s dripping on our head while we shower. Try to call downstairs again, no answer. We try to ignore it all and relax with some tv, tv isn’t working it says no signal, no answer at front desk again, tried to get ice to cool down. Ice machine is broken on 3 levels. At this point it’s just comical. Worst hotel experience ever. Upon check out I let them know and all I got was a “oh no I’m so sorry but I’ll let maintenance know”. Beautiful hotel but my room was terrible.

This was my 5th stay and as always it was excellent

Air conditioning in the room would not cool below 73 degrees and the room was humid. Staff moved us to a different room and same issue.

Was upgraded to a double room suite because the king room I booked had hvac issues. The room we were placed in never got cooler than 78. The room was extremely dated, and dingy. The balcony was filthy like never cleaned or maintained.
