The Brookside Motel Keystone Near Mt Rushmore

Nothing The deadbolt didnt lock and we certainly didnt feel safe. The price was very expensive and the manager received a phone call while I was checking in offering a significantly cheaper price to the caller on the phone. I understand it was a busy weekend but the offer was 1/3 the cost of our room. There were still remnants of previous guests in the room, items left behind. They said they had cable and we only got 1 channel.

Clean. Unfortunately there was a strong smell that made it difficult to sleep. We tried to open the windows to bring in fresh air but were not able too. Breakfast was good.

Could not stay there, wasn't like it was advertised.

The whole place needed repairs, it looked as old as it was. It was inexpensive. It is in a great location though and there is a great little restaurant that we had breakfast at very near. Walkable to the center of town.

Breakfast was good. Location was great! Room was comfortable and easy to access. Staff was friendly and helpful However, twice I experienced a total loss in water pressure in my shower; once during the shower and once as I was preparing to take my shower. I waited a few minutes and then the water pressure came back.

Location, beds. Room could have been more thoroughly cleaned. Cleaning solution was very strong odor when I arrived and I couldn’t open either window.

NA Shower did not work. Could use better cleaning.

Location The rooms were nasty. Stains on floor, bedding, and bed. Bugs all over the place. Bathroom filty with dirty stained towels. There was fur balls under the bed and hair all over the bedding. Not enough parking spaces.We reserved for 2 nights and ended up canceling the 2nd night to sleep elsewhere.

Great location, very clean and well maintained room, staff was hard to find, the biggest downside was the shower in our room had no hot water, most of the breakfast selections were gone by 8am (Breakfast started at 7:30) and nothing got replenished.

Room was clean. Buildings are older so they don’t look updated and lack some recent building code improvements, but the value is good for our intended use, which was basically just for a bed at night.

When we cheked in, we found wet towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door. We reported this to the staff but they thought we did not have enough towels. There seemed to be a slight language issue. Our room was on the second floor of one of the small buildings and the stairs and deck area had spongy wood boards in places. We thought the bed sheets looked less than fresh and when I got up the next morning I found long black hairs on the bottom sheet. Neither my wife or I have black hair. You decide.

It was easy to find and very accessible.

Nothing fancy but room was clean upon entering until bed time, 1 of 2 beds clearly had not been changed since the last person stayed, Was told the a/c was new but fan would not run on a/c mode so room got too warm to sleep. It wasn’t bad for a quick over night stay, not really owners fault housekeeping didn’t do their job!

Dirty, still old dirty towel in bathroom. Toilet not cleaned. Hairs in the shower. AC kept really loud noise. Furniture too old and dusty. Not happy at all.

The place does not look like the pictures. Huge stain on the floor. Looks like we were in a crime scene. No running water in brook. Just garbage. The refrigerator was sitting on a luggage rack. If in Keystone stay at Motel 8, it was nice
