Garner Hotel Doswell Southeast by IHG

The location of the property and it appeared to be recently renovated. I thought it was new, but I understand it was just a recent renovation! I will never stay at this facility again. There are two others adjacent to it. They will get my business from here on out! I would’ve been better off staying in a tent and cheaper! When I arrived that night to get checked in, my room had no towels, and they said that they did not have any to provide me! I had to purchase towels down the road, 20 minutes away, at Walmart to shower before going to bed! The room did not have a blow dryer, although it looked like it had a place for one! We had to open the window to get cool air as the HVAC system did not cool the room either. The room was supposed to have a refrigerator, but it did not have one, just a place for one! There was a light out on one of the four lights in the room, so it was very dark and hard to see at night. And that’s just the beginning!

Incredible location for visiting kings Dominion. Room was absolutely enormous and was clean Breakfast was very basic and wrapped up early

Location only. But I would rather drive 10-12 minutes down the road to avoid such a bad experience. I booked 2 nights and after the first night I demanded a refund and left this hotel and went to another hotel. I should have listened to the previous bad reviews. Major water issues. Flooded room. Smell. Major maintenance issues everywhere, lose electrical outlets, one being held by duct tape! Phone charger plug pulled out of the table. White stains on sofa. Beds smell. Dirty stained toilet. This hotel should be condemned! I don’t know how this passes health inspections! Do not stay!!

The interior design is very great, there is a sofa which can be turnt into a bed with a mattress hidden(very magical), the room is very spacious. Bathroom vanity is nice, white quartz countertops make it look bright and mirror is fashionable. I’ve been the hotel which costs 3 times more and less o flight this. fantastic for its size. Hotel looks newly built. It seems a little bit short of staff

The staff was very friendly when we checked in and answered all of our questions. The hallway and sitting area was clean and well kept. Breakfast was at 630 and had a semi decent amount of options. Our room didnt have any towels but they had more when we called down. I did notice on our checkout day another family had the same issue only to be told there were no clean towels in the hotel which seemed odd. The bathroom seemed halfway cleaned with the soaps laying around and some trash and no trash can jn there. We've stayed here before and really loved it last time but it seemed housekeeping struggled this go around.

My room smelled like cigarettes, the cover on the hvac machine of plastic in front of the machine itself, I had no tv remote. Only thing good I can say about my room is that the bathroom was clean.

I had to get three different rooms before I got one I felt okay to stay in for the night. The first one had half the curtains not hanging up. The second one wasn't cleaned (had no bedding on yet) but was apparently marked as clean in their system. The third one was fine. However, after heading to bed we realized that one bed didn't have the comfort on it so we had to go down and grab one from the front desk. The breakfast options were not great at all and we didn't eat there. We felt safe staying there. If they would have a maintenance person most of the issues we saw would make it a nicer hotel to stay in.

Front desk guy was nice when we arrived. Never saw anyone else after that. When we went to check out no one was at the front desk. I think they need better training at the front desk as well.

Location and cleanliness and comfort My toilet was broken had to lift the lid to flush and turn the water off and on and the first night I had the smoke detector beeping all night

Dead bugs and random hairs all over room and bathroom. Conditioner and body wash were empty.

But as far as the hotel is good is right in front on KD and we enjoy it that they have a suite and my kids had a bed to rest and I didn’t have to share my :)

The room was very comfortable. The hallways needed deep clean, dirt on basboard and musky smell. But the room was clean and comfortable.

It was in close proximity to the theme park we were visiting. There were places to eat nearby, and it was located right of the highway we used to get there. The hotel is currently under renovations and the gym was not what it was expected to be. When we arrived to our room it was not 100% clean, there was make up marks on the white sheets and candy wrappers behind and next to the pull out sofa. The staff was quick to make amends and changed our room.

Everything was very clean and well managed. I was expecting a regular hotel experience and I got a completely normal hotel experience! I had trouble setting the air conditioning.

Great location near Kings Dominion Amusement park! The bedding did not appear to be clean, and there was trash left on the floor from the previous guest that had not been removed. The closet also contained stained pillows and a blanket that had been left in a pile in the corner rather than folded or properly stored. Additionally, when we went to breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., several items were not being replenished even though there was still more than an hour remaining before breakfast ended.
