Great location. Great view. Plenty of parking. Our room might be due for updating but overall clean and comfortable. Bed was awesome. Slept very well. Walking distance to Des Moines Civic Center. So nice to not battle traffic after the show.

My hotel stay was just okay. The room was not that clean, and I'll attach the photo if I can, but one of the beds was covered in dark stains at the head of the mattress. Fortunately, I slept in the other queen bed in the room and did not see similar staining on that bed, but it definitely grossed me out. The bathroom cleanliness was average. There were some hairs here and there and what looked like the beginning of mildewy staining in the tub/shower. The shampoo/conditioner in the shower were not very full and the conditioner ran out after I showered once. Again, fortunately, I only washed my hair once during my stay, so it wasn't that big of an issue. I've seen reviews saying the beds aren't comfy, but I thought the opposite! I slept great. I've also seen the reviews stating the breakfast was subpar, but I also thought the opposite. I think the selection is great for a complimentary breakfast. Sausage, waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, assorted pastries, juice, coffee, etc. It was hot and fresh, so that was good. Overall, the staff was also very lovely and fun to interact with. If I have to come to Des Moines again, I'd consider staying again, but would hope that the cleanliness improves. They are doing housekeeping "by request only", so that could explain why things are not being thoroughly addressed between stays...?

Breakfast was excellent especially the banana nut muffins, very fresh and tasty. The staff is so helpful and cheerful that it is a pleasure to stay here an entire weekend.

Tried to cancel or change my reservation 1 week ahead of my stay and they would not allow me to, so I paid for a room I didn't get to use. Very poor customer service.

The bed was terrible. It was very uncomfortable, very hard, only a thin pad on top of a really hard, hard mattress. The room was extremely noisy. The PTAC heating/cooling unit was very noisy and had not been cleaned. We cleaned the filter ourselves, but the unit was extremely dirty and made a lot of noise. The air handler on the roof ran all night and just vibrated the room. Got very little sleep. Worst hotel room we've stayed at in a long time. The positive side was the shower was very good, nice towels. Breakfast was pretty decent. But will not stay here again.

Cons : There was no handicapped access to the pool. The floor we were on was very noisy.

Good place to stay if you’re going to be gone all day. The person who was doing the continental breakfast did an excellent job and I can tell she takes a lot of pride in what she’s doing. The front desk was pretty nonchalant. Not particularly friendly and definitely not rude. Just there to check us in. Pretty efficient. There was a lady talking pretty loud on the phone to another guest about replacing something and getting it mailed out. Kinda odd she wouldn’t take that call to the back office. The room was small with two queen beds. Everything was clean. On one pillow there was a stain so I just didn’t use it. The beds…the beds were horrible. We tossed and turned all night long. The mattress was so hard. For that reason alone, we will not use another Comfort Inn.
