This is the most loveliest hotel we have ever stayed in - they put so much love into it, it was also so quiet we slept with the window open and despite it being next to a road it was so quiet. We also loved how the hotel was made up, we were in one of the small rooms but as the doors lead outside it felt like an own little home. They put so much detail e.g. a make up removal cloth, gave us beach towels, had a lovely homemade breakfast. Absolutely nothing

Breakfast, dining recommendations Fireplace in room was a surprise. Strong odor of previous fires. Sand from beach not vacuumed enough.

We liked the breakfast. This was the only thing we liked to be honest. Our first night was a nightmare. The room had some flying insects(maybe termites?) but I was able to catch them in a small glass and put outside. Also we noticed the blankets had holes in them..The huge issue is what happened next. They had this fireplace already set up to go where staff had placed wood with paper in there ready to light. There was also a sign saying not to mess with the flue. So I lit the fire expecting a nice cozy warm night but instead the room filled with thick black smoke. I quickly realized I need to put it out with whatever I had, which was small glasses of water. The loud shrieking smoke alarm came on soon after. The fire was put out and the front door opened but the room was still filled with too much smoke, it burned our eyes and throats and the alarm stayed on for about 30 minutes. During this time I called the emergency number and Curtis answered. He was not any help and surprisingly did not even come down to check on us. He could have at least moved us to another smoke free room??? It ruined our night. We didn't sleep much. We complained the next day and requested a full refund for the room. We already had another night booked with an upgraded room since it was a two night stay. But they only refunded us about half for the first night but really it should have been a full refund especially since we were staying another night. Why did they charge us anything for the first night?? I have to say this was the first time in memory that I went home from my two day trip feeling exhausted and needing a few days to recover.

It was very clean, and the location was great. The room lacks air conditioning and window screens. Also, the walls seem very thin, so I can hear a lot of noise from outside.

Location was convenient. The broken window pane, the broken window shutters, the broken entrance tiles, the bed which sloped to the right, the flat pillows, the portable fan with dirt on the blades, the low shower head pressure, the cabinet in bath with chipped paint all over, no counter to set anything down on, the bathroom window which I had to prop open with a roll of toilet paper, sofa with holes in the upholstery and dirty pillow, the laundry with a loud dryer being next to my room which negated a peaceful morning, the refrigerator which froze my drinks, and the lack of air flow with only two small windows that opened so I had to leave the front door open which created a security problem. I did improve security, however, by propping a garden chair up against the garden gate.
