So grateful to the staff, the location was perfect for an event and parking was easy. There could be a crosswalk though to the parking lot so that people can get across safely.

Rooms are nice and clean. The staff is very friendly. The treadmills were out if order.
-
The parking fee of $30 per day seems excessive, so I opted for alternative parking with the exception of one night.

The young woman working the front desk was AMAZING!

Our room was lovely even with the age. I would stay again. The only reason it does not get all stars is when I went downstairs to use the bathroom, the floor to the women’s bathroom was gross and had not been cleaned for awhile and two stall broken and the only operating stall had a broken lock, so not sure how that works for children going to the bathroom after swimming or working out. Clean that up and you have all stars for location, staff and nice views.

The breakfast was at least decent, not good, not great, but at least not a disappointment like every single other thing in the hotel. Boy oh boy. Where to start. $30/day parking. Rooms from the 1970's. The blood on the curtains goes great with the grease stain and nail polish on the furniture. The black marks on the walls, and stains under the bedside tables. Want to go swimming in the 'pool'? Good luck. The 'deep' end is 4'9" deep, short end is 3', whole pool is maybe 20 feet long. 1 elevator for the entire hotel even though other levels have 4 elevators. The front desk person for the morning/afternoon was not helpful when I called ahead of time, not even saying hello, thank you, and just hung up on me when said "ok" to not checking in early. Pretty sure the bed is just a plywood board with some padding on top. If you like a rock hard bed, you'll love it. Pillows are basically cotton balls with zero support. Oh, and some of the lights flicker, that's fun. And 1 trash for the bathroom and the main room. The toilet seat is wobbly as heck too. The rest of the bathroom at least looks nice, I'll give it that. Local grocery store has 2-3 armed security guards at all times, if that tells you what kind of area this is in. It is hilarious to turn on the TV to see Hyatt's self promotion of their 'amazing' hotels. If I owned hyatt, I wouldn't want this place representing my brand. Edit: Got back for our last day of our stay, couldn't get in the $30/day parking ramp. kept trying. Had to leave the car and walk across the street through traffic to talk to someone. Front door person was on their laptop screwing around, their back to the front door. Tells me 'oh sorry, our server is down, I have to let people in manually.' yet she was playing on her computer with her back to the parking area. This place is not worth 1 star. We feel incredibly ripped off at this point. Oh, and 4th day in a row no bathrooms by the breakfast area. Wouldn't want to spend money on a plumber for guest comfort now would they?

Room size. Plenty of space. Bed was not that comfortable. But for price point and everything else hotel offered. Still 5 stars.

Stayed two days for a conference. Would stay there again.

We loved the front desk staff. She was very kind and accomdating to our family. Every interaction we had was good. We also appreciated the location of this hotel in downtown Des Moines. It was walkable to many things and made it easy to explore. We were surprised at the condition of the pool. Even my kids were not interested in swimming after they saw it. It was not kept well and there was dirt in the bottom. The age of the hotel building shows in some of the furniture and cleanliness of certain areas.
