I would not recommend staying here.

Breakfast was good with a huge variety of baked goods. Scrambled eggs, waffles, hashbrowns, & sausage was some great options. The breakfast staff were very efficient and pleasant to talk with. The front desk staff did a great job and would even open the door and very helpful with using the bikes which was a great benefit of staying here. We used the bikes twice to go to the National Mall, The Capitol, and our favorite coffee shop called Ebeneezers. Beds were comfortable and we like a lot of pillows so we were happy with that. Nice to have umbrellas to use during our stay. Place is a little dated and no pool or jacuzzi. Price for staying here was expensive for what you get and glad we did not have a car or that would have cost a lot more. Hotel key was not working the morning we were leaving so that was a little hassle not being able to get into our room.

This is a great hotel that’s close to everything! Great walking distance!

Location was great and the staff was wonderful! The desk clerk and valet went above and beyond to help us when we had a flat tire. The breakfast was below expectation - eggs were bland and the hash browns were dried out and hard.

I’m a frequent guest at Capitol Hill Hotel. The staff is attentive—they go above and beyond to be accommodating. The hotel is in an unbeatable location. The breakfast isn’t bad either!

    Exceptional

I normally don’t write negative reviews, but I feel this one is worth sharing as a warning. I paid over $1,000 for one night, and the hotel simply did not feel like an expensive property. The entrance and hallways had noticeably scratched walls and areas around the room locks that looked like they had been repaired but never properly touched up. The second building in particular had an empty, almost ghost-town feeling. There were hardly any people around, and although there was key-card access, some doors were left open and the overall layout made me feel uncomfortable and, as a woman traveling, not particularly safe. The room itself was fine but not impressive. I even found what appeared to be a random wine cork on the bed. The room didn’t look dirty, but something like that should not be there. Honestly, based on the room and overall condition, I would value this property closer to $300 per night—not $1,000+. The main justification for the price seems to be its proximity to the surrounding buildings and attractions. I rarely write reviews like this, but at this price point, I expected a completely different experience. They are ripping off people.

The air conditioning kept turning on and off frequently; the bathtub needs replacing—there is rust where you stand; the toilet flush mechanism needs replacing because it keeps running; the room cleaning was good.

    Amazing!!

While everything was fine with the room and hotel, this was not a 4 star property. I am not saying that I wouldn't recommend it. My expectations when I get a 4 star rating were not met.

What a great find! Staff was fabulous, especially David with all the answers and smiles at the front desk, and the overnight clerk- such a helpful lady. We will be back!!

What impressed me most was how quickly the hotel responded when there was a problem with our room. They arranged a room change promptly, which allowed us to adjust our itinerary with minimal disruption. We really appreciated the efficient and considerate service. THKS, TIANA The new room was spacious and comfortable, and the location was very convenient for sightseeing. We could easily walk to the museums and other major attractions, and it was about a 15–20 minute walk to the Capitol. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and appreciated the hotel’s responsiveness and convenient location. I would be happy to stay here again on a future visit to Washington, DC.
