Unscripted Durham, Part of JDV by Hyatt

I will stay here again—it’s so centrally located, walking distance to tons of shops, restaurants, cafes, and small businesses. Everyone was so friendly and it was easy to come and go. My room was very clean. I travel a lot, and was delighted to find soft beds and towels. Really fun spot.

Shows its natural age, but the restrooms are neat and modern. Pool area is well done

Paid $25 on my hotel bill, then was charged $50 to get out of the lot after a one night stay.

Very good

I was excited to stay in this hotel knowing that it was a converted abandoned "we want Oprah" building from when I lived in Durham in the 2000s. Overall, the layout of the hotel and rooms was fine. Unfortunately, there were some noticeable downsides. For one, the hallway of the floor I was staying on smelled horrible. Some other guests thought it might be due to rotting milk, but I am not sure. In addition, the water in my shower was luke warm at best and cold at other times. Hopefully, these issues are temporary and both issues are addressed. I don't think I would stay here again with all the other good options in the area.

Our stay at Unscripted was fantastic. We were traveling from out of state and had never been to Durham before. The staff were all extremely helpful from the start- making sure check-in was easy and orienting us to the area. The property is walking distance to great shopping and dining, and to the DPAC, where we saw a show. It was fantastic to have access to the rooftop pool and bar, where once again, the facilities were immaculate and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I will. Be back to this property the next time my travels take me to Durham or anywhere close by.

Couldn’t stay due to smell but they ended up refunding instead of playing the “you booked through a third party” card

Great location. staff was nice enough. room was dated. interior rooms have no windows. and while my room had a 'city view', the windows were small and up high so i only had a city view when i stood up to look at the window.

Nice hotel in a good location. My only complaint is the cost of parking and it didnt come with valet service.

The staff were amazing! We loved Andrew at the pool bar and all of the people at reception were so helpful.

Room was perfect for my needs

Was able to check in early and received a room upgrade. Parking was convenient and walked to the Bulls game and lunch. It said breakfast available but I couldn’t find it. The patio was open for dinner/room service but nothing about breakfast.

The room wasn’t clean, the door to the exit and elevators slammed so loud I could hear it in my room and the wall shakes because of it. The curtains didn’t close over the window looking out to the balcony all the way so the light from outside was shining in the room even through the night.
