Beautiful place

This place is such a great value and an exceptional experience. The ambiance and hotel design were lovely. My room was aesthetically pleasing with all the amenities one might need. Breakfast beyond expectations - only comparable with some of those I have experienced at 5 star stays in Europe. The location was excellent - about 3 blocks off the beach and another couple blocks out of downtown Carmel. It was unassuming, and embodied comfortable, quiet elegance. I loved that it felt historic but not outdated. Staff was excellent. Will absolutely be back.

Beautiful property!! Staff was friendly and very helpful. Everything very clean and well maintained. Just a 2 minute walk to the beach, and a short (10 min) walk to the center of the Village of Carmel. While that walk is largely up hill to town, it’s not bad. There’s a free hotel shuttle to/from the Village that’s available 5-10pm. We rarely used it, as the walk was nice. My adult daughter and I felt completely safe walking between town and the hotel even at 10pm when everything was dark and quiet. The complimentary breakfast is AWESOME. Definitely recommend.

We had two completely different experiences at this hotel over the course of a 4 night stay. One of the best measures of a business is how they react when things go wrong. I applaud the manager and staff for turning lemons into lemonade. The hotel & grounds are beautiful. The daily breakfast is very good, with a wide selection of well-prepared, tasty items served in a bright, cheerful room & patio w/great views. Our first night was awful. Our 2nd night was average. After that, it was a delightful stay & we loved it. The first room we had was, frankly, terrible for the price. That night La Playa Hotel was extremely noisy until after 1 a.m. Ridiculously noisy. Moving furnuture above our heads, people clomping loudly up & down the stairs right by our room, laughing & talking loudly in the hallways all night. Our room backed to a men's restroom & we heard inebriated revelers, water running, toilets flushing, paper towels being dispensed, & other loud noises almost all night. Got almost no sleep. We endured that room for 2 nights. The 2nd night wasn't quite as bad as the 1st, but it still was not worth the price. Thankfully, the manager moved us to a new, quieter room for our 3rd & 4th nights. The difference is night & day! The new room was much quieter, bigger & had a lovely view, Overall, it was not worth the $4000+ we paid for 4 nights. And THEN, they charged us again, even though we prepaid for the room, making the cost over $8000. Still working to get that resolved.

Great boutique hotel in Carmel. Close to the main areas in Carmel. Great customer service. Lovely comfortable rooms while not huge are beautiful furnished. Great free extras provided from early morning coffee, a delicious buffet breakfast with egg station, afternoon wine and not forgetting the wonderful chocolate chip cookies in the evening. A real treat.

Charming boutique hotel. Outstanding ambiance and service. Smaller, but beautifully decorated rooms. Breakfast service and food quality was excellent. The bar was cozy and inviting. Staff were courteous and friendly. One of our favorite hotel stays!

Everything the staff was great and accommodating breakfast was excellent and location was amazing. Grounds were really nice, saltwater pool was comfortable. It was a little expensive but for a reason

Our window was busted so our room was extremely cold And loud very very loud Our room backed up to street so people passing by car alarms yelling and the worst part was the wedding above us ! Dancing and yelling celebrating until late The food for breakfast was excellent and the location overall was superb except hard to park car

From a recent upgrade in 2023, we can tell our room was modern, shower pressure was amazing, and overall room was spacious (as it’s a pet friendly hotel). They even blessed us with salted caramels and the doggies with special treats. The La Playa Hotel has killer breakfasts items and the coffee is smooth like Sunday mornings. Area around the hotel was super safe. Reminded me of the 1950’s where you can walk every where without a care. Except for the hanging caterpillars that might secretly attack. If you do bring your pets, you have to do the Mad Dogs and Englishman e-bike with side car. We parked ours near the unloading zone and most of the guests said "Hello" to our doggies. Then travel along the Scenic Road and go with the flow. Overall, we loved everything about our stay!
