The rooms are large and so unique. Mine had a lovely living room, separated from the bedroom by steps, a partial wall and two-sided fireplace (though, tbh, the 'fire' was comically fake). Still, it was a fun detail. Art Deco decorations, furnishings and colors, wide hallway, large bathroom. Patient and kind staff who gave delightful advice for making the most of my time in Buffalo. It is full of history, and my only wish was that more of the main floor was restored and open. Highly recommend. Also, half a block from The Lunch Box bakery, which has fantastic coffee.

Kind of a gross hotel, the room is OK, but there was vomit on the steps of one of the entrances our entire stay. Parking is available on the street close to the hotel and they give you access to a public garage. Again, the room wasn't gross, but there is not a lot to do around the hotel so definitely would not stay again.

The building and the rooms are beautiful, all art deco. Generously sized room and bathroom Very minimal housekeeping with one of our rooms not attended once during 3 night stay. We had to request fresh towels. Small bottles of toiletries which is fine if they are replenished properly but this didn’t happen. The hotel has no facilities for food and drink and whilst The location is great for seeing architecture in downtown Buffalo, there are very limited places to get breakfast or even coffee. Staff were not deliberately unhelpful, they just genuinely appeared untrained and unaware of much

Cool boutique hotel. It was just a one night stop in our travels, but I'm glad we stayed there.

The stay at this hotel was not anything that we expected. The door into the hotel room was very difficult to open and close. We had to slam the door shut in order to lock it.The light above the vanity in the bathroom was out. The toilet leaked on the floor, which contributed to the musty smell in the room. There was mold in the coffee maker. The room safe was not bolted down and did not work. There were flies in the room. The sliding bathroom door was off its track, which my husband fixed on his own. There was not ample shampoo, body wash or conditioner supplies. We used bar soap from the vanity to shower. We spoke with the front desk staff and told them of the issues and none were addressed during our three day stay. We would never recommend this boutique hotel. The hotel staff did acknowledge our issues and refund our first night’s stay.

The location is horrifying for this star level and cost of this hotel.

  • Engine customer Sep 2026

Old- moldy smelling - staff nice enough but not very helpful

The hotel is unique and an easy walk to the harbor. It is clean. The check in was terrible. Extremely unfriendly attendant at the counter. Gave us the wrong address for parking. Charges for a bottle of water.

I know this is a “historical” building but it is in much need of refurbishment. Very disappointed fir $350

Beautiful historical property. Clean rooms. Quiet hotel. Helpful staff

But otherwise, I have no words to express how bad I felt: dark, empty lobbies; not a single person walking the hallways; no one at the reception desk—just one person inside on the phone. Regarding cleanliness, I can say the room was very clean; however, I felt that people in other rooms were slamming their doors shut—the resulting echo was so loud it actually scared me.

There was luge music downstairs that we were unaware of and it kept us up quite late with a young child

  • Engine customer Sep 2026

Rooms were nice. They only have rooms available on the 2nd for. The rooms above are residential.

I have mixed feelings about my stay here. The hotel was built in the early 1900s, and the building itself features beautiful historic architecture. However, it is an older structure undergoing renovations, which comes with some downsides. When you first enter the lobby, it feels quite gloomy and dark. There was also a noticeable pronounced musty smell every time I walked into my hotel room. Thermostat was confusing. No one was there to explain. Shower controls need repaired or replaced. Hard to shut off shower valve completely. The biggest area for improvement is the service and staffing. There was only one person at the front desk the entire time, leaving it completely empty when they went on break. The staff was not forthcoming with information, and there was no one available to help with bags. The employees definitely need more customer support training. Housekeeping was also minimal. While the room was clean when I arrived, daily service consisted only of emptying the trash. The room was large, had a fireplace which we did not use, area for sitting, mini fridge and microwave. They did not make the bed or replenish used items, such as coffee. On the positive side, it is a very quiet hotel. If you are looking for nightlife, this is not the place to stay, but it works if you want peace and quiet. Overall, the historic charm is weighed down by a major lack of service. Conveniently located.

Was sent to our first room with no air conditioning. Called down and sent us to another room. Second room we could not get the fireplace to light, called down again and front desk told us don't know guess it doesn't work, its really just for show. My husband said, we know but wife loves to watch at night. The front door were never locked when we came in at night. The breakfast place is open, just keep on going past the bar to the back and you will find people. At no point during our stay was the front desk people friendly or helpful. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Hotel is historic and the rooms are pretty nice, but they are rather dark, and the lobby is dimly lit with ugly blue lighting. The gym was a disaster, with half the equiment broken or run down and weights all over the place.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Great location. Park at the garage first - then get your parking pass/voucher. Much easier.

    Exceptional

The hotel was very nice overall. The building is beautiful and everything was clean. Our room was spacious and even had a nice small adjoining living room, which was a great bonus. The location was also very convenient. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.
