We arrived late in the afternoon and were given the keys to our hotel room. When we got to the room it smelled like smoke. We opened the window to try and get the smell out. When my wife went into the bathroom there was still a used towel hanging. At that point we decided to leave. The staff was very understanding and helpful with this request and we did get a complete refund.

The character of this hotel is unique and interesting. The location was convenient to restaurants and shops. The staff was responsive to our requests. It was loud! Every time someone closed a door on our hall, it was a loud bang and echoed throughout the hallway.

I love and like the proximity to the train station, Brattleboro Food Coop, River Art School and Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, I visited twice: first with my teen son and husband, and the second by myself, and both times were great. There are signs of the passing of time in this lovely Art Deco structure, and that adds to its beauty, Super courteous staff The first time we watched a movie, so if you stay at the hotel, please treat yourself to that or some of their baskets. I missed eating at their restaurant, so I guess next time. My husband loved that there was always coffee for him, and my son loved our mini fridge and microwave. We love the history of this place and how is part of the larger arts and culture scene of Brattleboro

It's located in the busy area of town, so it's noisy.

The “rating” was very misleading.
-
Very well located, comfortable room and nice bathroom amenities. Very charming hotel, nice decor. Limited lobby hours.

Great free coffee in the lobby. Wonderful place to hang out and relax. Staff very helpful and perfect location. The room was dark and a soft mattress.

The location for us was perfect and the rooms were very comfortable and enjoyed playing albums on the record player in the room such a cool thing to have

It is a special place - not the run of the mill franchise. The linen is first class, nice thick towels. The room had a microwave and a refrig, plus the record player theme is another theme for folks who appreciate the vinyl era. Remember - Art Deco Era - not modern era.

Great time in Brattleboro

The whole building is controlled by central heat and air, so none of the rooms can control their own. There was poop on the underside of the toilet seat. Bed squeaked terribly. Sounds snobbish, but homeless everywhere around

What a unique hotel! If you love vintage everything and downtown living, this is your spot. There have been thoughtful updates to the property for functionality and comfort, but many details of the property were kept intact for period charm. Some features are older (plumbing, bath fixtures, door hardware), but furniture was stylish and comfortable. Loved the records! A nice change to listen to music instead of TV.

This hotel is a great representation of a niche throw back. Record players in the room. Stacks of records in the hall to enjoy. The lobby is beautiful and they are attached to the movie theatre, which is old school and beautiful to witness. The hotel is in a TERRIBLE AREA and in fact Brattleboro, VT has an extremely large homeless and drug population. I truly feel for the business’ in the town. No foot traffic. We didn’t see one police vehicle at all. Multiple people told us to keep our wits about us if walking at night. The restaurants that we did visit have lovely people and are friendly but the places to see are not worth a visit to this sad town. It’s truly unfortunate too. You have this idea of small town in New England with shops and mom and pop places to eat and this had almost NONE of that.

The room was clean, bed comfy. Offput by the “urgent” emails asking me to check in before 10 pm, as that’s when the staff leave for the night. Called to confirm we would be there in time after the first email, got two more in the next two hours. Staff was very nice, hotel is dark, rooms more like dorm rooms. Location was good, restaurants nearby. Overall, while we wouldn’t stay again, I’m sure there are those who like the vibe.

Clean outer windows. Fix leaky faucet in bathroom. Otherwise good

Considering the age of the property, this is a great stay! The staff was super helpful upon arrival, helping with check-in, parking and directions. The proximity to shops and restaurants is amazing. The room was clean and comfortable. I love that there were extra fans in the room to account for the lack of AC. Definitely still stay again!
